Wanda Maxine Uhls of Zeigler, Illinois, November 1, 1924 – March 22, 2019

Wanda Maxine Uhls. 94, of Zeigler, Illinois passed away at 5:50 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Shawnee Christian Village in Herrin.
Maxine was born November 1, 1924 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Ody and Lena (Davis) Johnson.
She married Marion Wendall Uhls March 29, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He preceded her in death November 23, 2000.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Pam and Don Wright of Zeigler, Tracy Hood of Herrin and Lisa Bishop of Zeigler; a son and daughter-in-law, Jan and Linda Uhls of Cambria; nine grandchildren, Aniessa Vercellino of Zeigler, Doug (Jennifer) Uhls of West Frankfort, Wendy Uhls of Plainfield, Dana (Loren) Baker of Belleville, Andi (Clint) Willis of Orient, Terri Hughes of West Frankfort, Chris Scroggins of Zeigler, Keith Scroggins of Marion, Natalie (Robert) Lockwood of Jacksonville; 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and two nephews, Ed Carr of Mulkeytown and Dean Carr of West Frankfort.
Her parents, a sister, Eva Carr and a grandson, Aaron Wright also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Uhls was a member of the Plumfield Christian Church.   She had worked as a sales clerk at Greens Drug Store in Zeigler and Jacob Lane of West Frankfort.  She had served as an election judge in the Denning Township.  She loved to garden, sewing and craft work.  She once made rag dolls for all of her grandchildren in their likeness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Uhls will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with Pastor Don Wright officiating.  Burial will be at Mulkeytown Cemetery.  Visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
