John Hischer of Royalton, Illinois, February 8, 1931 – March 26, 2019

John Hischer, 88, of Royalton, Illinois passed away at 5:15 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
John was born February 8, 1931 in Royalton to Joseph and Mary (Barta) Hischer.
He married Carol Ann Campbell March 19, 1955 in Herrin.  She survives in Royalton.
Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Leadabrand of Royalton; a granddaughter and her husband, Ashley and Jared Ward of Herrin; three brothers-in-law, Larry (Diane) Campbell of Herrin, Jerry Campbell of Herrin and Phillip Campbell of Grand Chain and two sisters-in-law, Jeannine Jones of Indiana and Donna and Albert Rich of Texas and many nieces and nephews.
His parents; two sons, John Michael Hischer and Mark Steve Hischer preceded him in death.
Mr. Hischer was a retired coal miner who last worked at the Consol Rend Lake Mine in Sesser and a member of the UMWA Local 1545 Union.  He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, gardening, fishing, riding his four wheeler and play with the dog.
Funeral services for Mr. Hischer will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton with Pastor Denny Bush officiating.  Burial will be the Miners cemetery east of Royalton.  Visiting hours are from 9 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home.  Visit www.vantreasefuneralhome.com for more information and to sign the online register book.
