Bertha Retonia “Toni” King of Benton, Illinois, June 3, 1944 – April 21, 2019

Bertha Retonia “Toni” King, 74, of Benton, Illinois passed away at 1:45 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with her loving family at her side.
Toni was born June 3, 1944 in Latta, South Carolina to William and Louise (Smith) Fowler.
She married Alan King October 3, 1988 in Terra Haute, Indiana.  He survives in Benton.
Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and John Stoecklin of Marion; a son, Warren Bandy of Carterville; a son-in-law, Billy Fann of Mulkeytown; three grandchildren, Chase Fann and Dorothy Murzydlo of Chicago, Amanda and Liam Farrell of Herrin and Samantha Bandy of Colorado; two great grandchildren, Brennan and Rowan Farrell of Herrin; two brothers, Randy Fowler of Virginia and William Thomas Fowler of South Caroline; a sister, Francis Attaway of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; a son, Texas Bandy, Jr.; two grandsons, Heath and Dustin Bandy preceded her in death.
Mrs. King was member of the Bear Point Free Will Baptist Church in Sesser and a homemaker.  She enjoyed going to yard sales, her pet animals and working in her garden.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler with Pastor Larry Cook officiating.  Burial will be at the Winemiller Cemetery in Whittington.  Visiting hours are from 11 to 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
